Canton Patch Sports Scoreboard: Boys Basketball loses to Mansfield

The Canton High girls' basketball team falls to Mansfield.

BOYS' ICE HOCKEY (9-2-)-The Bulldogs got revenge on one of their losses thisseason, beating Oliver Ames, 3-1, Saturday in Canton. Pat Ward, Ben Lodge and Brian Brooks scored the goals. “We sort had to sort of weather the storm and then get to playing our game, which we did. We carried the play in the second period and then in the third they started playing well but it was good to get that last one to really seal the deal,” said Canton High head coach Brian Shulman onhockomocksports.com.  For more information, go to the boys' hockey team's web site.  Canton will be hosting Bridgewater-Raynham Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

GIRLS' ICE HOCKEY (7-1-1)-The Bulldogs tied Franklin, 4-4, Friday night in Franklin. The Bulldogs got two goals from Mary Need on their way to a 3-1 win over Medway/Ashland Wednesday night. Caitlin Feeney had the other goals. The only defeat the Bulldogs has had was to top-ranked Duxbury. WRESTLING-After falling behind big to Sharon, the Bulldogs rallied for a 43-34 win. Peter Sheehan, Brendan Lewis and Derek Haas had big victories for the Bulldogs. NEXT MATCH: The Bulldogs will be hosting Oliver Ames, Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m.

BOYS' BASKETBALL (3-8)-The Bulldogs lost to Mansfield, 81-46, as the Hornets qualified for the tournament. The Bulldogs lost to Foxborough, 51-48, Friday. The Bulldogs will be traveling to Fairhaven, Wednesday at 5 p.m.. From more on the team go to their website.

GYMNASTICS-The Bulldogs lost to Mansfield, 139.2-130.65, Wednesday. Abby Green had a 9.25 on the vault, while Stephanie Milne had a 9.1. In their first home of the season, the Bulldogs lost to Oliver Ames, 130.35 to 129.5. 

GIRLS' BASKETBALL (0-10)-The Bulldogs dropped a 61-27 deciision to Mansfield after losing to Foxborough, 53-34, Friday night. Next game: East Bridgewater, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 5 p.m.

GIRLS TRACK-A 55-40 victory over Foxborough gave the Bulldogs their third straight win of the season. Lauren Berman had a big day, winning the 1,000 meters in 3:11.85 and the two-mile. Mellyn Costello and Michaela Kelly were both double-winners. Costello won the 55 meter hurdles and the long jump, while Kelly took the 300 and 600 meters. Alexis Njoku and Nichishai Medary went one-two in the shot put. Running the mile for the first time, Catherine Song grabbed a second. 

GIRLS' SWIMMING-The Bulldogs defeated Milford High, 91-79. Milford is one of the strong programs in the state. 

BOYS TRACK-The Bulldogs lost to Foxborough, 61-30. Obi Nwankwo won the 55 meters, while Craig Millis took the 600 and Ian Millis won the 1,000 meters. 

The Canton High winter athletic teams are collecting gently used shoes to help out those in need. You can drop shoes off to the varsity coaches or leave them in boxes outside the athletic office.
