Canton Patch Sports Scoreboard: Bulldog Football to Face Unbeaten Sharon

The Canton High football team is looking to knock off unbeaten Sharon tonight at home at 6 p.m.

 

FOOTBALL-A key Hockomock League Davenport Division game will take place tonight when the 1-2 Canton Bulldogs face the 4-0 Sharon Eagles in a 6 p.m. game at Canton High. This is the first league game for both schools. The Eagles own victory over Dedham, Rockland, North Quincy and Taunton, 21-20, while Bulldogs' win came against Quincy, while they have lost to Abington and Attleboro in a heart-breaking 26-20 loss last Friday. Against the Blue Bombardiers, Canton going out to a 14-7 lead before Attleboro rallied for the win. The Bulldogs got touchdowns from Dexter Green, Shane Nordgren and Ellis Camacho.

GOLF-The Canton High golf team will have a big match Tuesday at the Sharon Country Club against the Eagles at 3:15 p.m. The Bulldogs had a big win over Foxborough Wednesday, beating the Warriors, 161-164, at the Blue Hills Country Club. JC Marcone was the top golfer for the Bulldogs with a 39.

VOLLEYBALL-Canton High will face Taunton for the first time in Hockomock League on the road in a 5 p.m. The Bulldogs went undefeated in September and are ranked as one of the top teams in the state. The Bulldogs defeated Stoughton, 3-0, Wednesday. Julia Murphy led the way for Canton with 10 kills and two aces, while Avery Devoe had six kills and four blocks and Jackie Bornemann had five kills, two aces and two blocks.

GIRLS CROSS-COUNTRY-In first Hockomock League meet, Canton took care of Milford with a 15-47 win over the Hawks. Amanda Eagles won the race for the Bulldogs in a time of 19:59 over the 2.95 mile course, while teammate Cat Song was second in 20:18 and Courtney Loughnane was third in 20:22. The Bulldogs will be facing Stoughton at Houghton's Pond Tuesday.

BOYS CROSS-COUNTY-In a very close race, Canton lost to Milford, 26-29. Kevin McNeil clocked a time of 17:15 to finish third, followed by teammates Joe Clancy, 17:25 and Scott Buresh, 17:44. Stoughton will be hosting Canton Tuesday at Houghton's Pond.

FIELD HOCKEY-Canton will be looking for its seventh win of the season when they travel to King Philip today for a 3:30 p.m. match. On the season, the Bulldogs at 6-0-3. Canton scored five goals in the second half on their way to a 7-2 win over Taunton. Shannon Proctor got into the scoring with her first varsity goal and also added an assist.

BOYS SOCCER-Canton will be going for their sixth win of the season and to start a new winning streak when they host the King Philip Warriors Friday at 3 p.m. The 5-4 Bulldogs had a three-game winning snap, losing to Taunton, 2-1, Wednesday, in the first Hockomock League meeting between the two schools. With the Tigers up 2-0, the Bulldogs got the scoreboard with a goal by Damian Kozak with 12 minutes remaining, but couldn't get the equalizer in Taunton.

GIRLS SOCCER-The Bulldogs will be looking for their seventh win of the season when they travel to King Philip for a 3:30 p.m. game. Canton blanked Taunton, 7-0, Wednesday to improve to 6-1-1 on the season.
