The New England Patriots are the region’s favorite team, according to a Boston Herald article that published the results of an extensive fan survey conducted by Channel Media & Market Research in Burlington.
The results of the survey were published in the Boston Herald Tuesday and showed the Patriots are New England’s favorite to follow.
And the Patriots are on top of the sporting world by a wide margin.
According to the Herald’s article, 42 percent of 7,200 “Fan Opinion Poll” respondents picked the Patriots as their favorite team. Forty-four percent picked the Patriots as the team they would choose to follow if they could only pick one.
Other members of the Patriots topping the charts in their respective categories include: Robert Kraft (top owner – 42 percent), Bill Belichick (most admired coach - 47 percent) and Wes Welker (most admired player – 23 percent), who surprisingly beat out teammate Tom Brady (22 percent).
The Red Sox came second or worse to the Pats in every category of the survey while the Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics and New England Revolution rounded out the rankings with modest results.
