Tourney Time for Canton High Athletic Teams

The Canton High field hockey, boys' soccer and girls' soccer teams will be in action in the state tournament.

 

It's tourney time for the Canton High athletic teams.

The Canton High field hockey team will be playing Dedham Saturday at 4 p.m. at home in the first round of the Division 2 South tournament.With a 12-1-4 record, the Bulldogs are seeded fifth in the tournament. The winner will move on to face the Martha's Vineyard-Plymouth South versus Old Rochester winner in the quarterfinals.

-The Canton boys' soccer team is seeded 12th the Division 2 South tournament after finishing the season with 9-6-2 record. The Bulldogs will host the 21st Norwood Mustangs (5-12-1) Friday at 6 p.m.

-The Canton High girls' soccer team is seeded fourth in the Division 2 South tournament with a 14-1-1 record and will play the 13th seeded Dighton-Rehoboth Falcons (10-6-4) on a first round game Saturday in Canton at 6:30 p.m.

-After finishing the season with a 19-0 record, the Canton High volleyball team is now waiting to see who they play in the state tournament. The Bulldogs gave head coach Pat Cawley her 100th career win in six years with a 3-0 nonleague win over Medway, 25-22, 25-17 and 27-25. Jackie Borneman (13 kills), Julia Murphy (nine kills), Kaitlin Phillips (24 assists), Erin Proctor (seven straight points) and Min Costello (outstanding defense) led the way for the Bulldogs.

-Sam Reiner will be taking part in the Division 3 State Golf Tournament Monday at the Redtail Golf Club in Devens. He earned a spot by shooting a 77 and placing third in the South Sectionals as the Bulldogs were sixth out of 20 teams

The Canton High football team will be traveling to North Attleboro Friday night at 7 p.m. in a non-Davenport Division game.
