Canton-Based Dunkin' Donuts Supports Jimmy Fund for Thirteenth Consecutive Year

Dunkin’ Donuts is supporting the through the Jimmy Fund for the 13th year to help increase the chances of survival among cancer patients worldwide. Dunkin’ Donuts and its franchisees maintain an ongoing commitment to the Jimmy Fund, having helped raise a total of $8 million since 1998. This year, Dunkin’ Donuts will continue to support the Jimmy Fund and the fight against cancer through several fundraising events and campaigns that will take place throughout the month of August.

Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees in New England have raised millions of dollars for the Jimmy Fund through proceeds generated from the annual Dunkin’ Donuts George Mandell Memorial Golf Tournament and auction since the tournament’s inception in 1998. The event was created by the Dunkin' Donuts New England Distribution Center (NEDCP), whose members are comprised of franchise owners, in honor of George Mandell, a Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee who died of cancer. Historically, this tournament has been the Jimmy Fund’s highest-grossing fundraising tournament and each year it continues to pay tribute to members of the Dunkin’ Donuts community impacted by cancer. This year, the 13th Annual George Mandell Memorial Golf Tournament and auction was held on August 8 at The International Golf Club in Bolton, Mass.

Also in the month of August, Dunkin’ Donuts will introduce an in-store campaign inviting guests at participating restaurants across the region to donate $1.00 to support the Jimmy Fund and The Dunkin’ Donuts & Community Foundation. From August 13 through August 21, guests who elect to contribute $1.00 will be given an iconic paper cup to personalize and showcase on the walls of their Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant.

The 10th annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon will kick off on August 30, broadcasting compelling stories from Dana-Farber patients, doctors, researchers and nurses, celebrity guests and athletes, over the span of 36 hours. 2011 will mark the 10th year Dunkin’ Donuts has sponsored the event, and this year, local Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees will be on hand to answer phones during the event.
