Canton Runner Joins Team Clarke for the 2011 Falmouth Road Race

Clarke’s Team includes Mark Campbell, an audiologist from Waltham; Mary Jane Johnson, Assistant Director of Clarke Boston in Canton; Jennifer Scott, a therapist at Wilmington Family Counseling Services; Amanda Pelissier of Brockton; and Amy Zaferacopoulos of Littleton. “I ran my first Falmouth Race last year after recovering from a broken ankle–I love a challenge! This year I am stronger and more determined than ever to run a great race,” Johnson said.

Mark Campbell is a native of Waltham. Mark was diagnosed with a hearing loss at a young age and received his first cochlear implant in 2003 and his second in 2010. He received his bachelor's degree in 2004 from the College of the Holy Cross and earned his doctorate in Audiology from Northeastern University in 2009. Currently working as an Audiologist at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, Mark also serves as a lecturer at Northeastern University's Bouve College of Health Sciences. Participating in this race combines Mark's love of running with his dedication to organizations serving people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Jennifer Scott is a longtime friend of Clarke Boston. This will be her second year running the Falmouth Road Race. Jennifer is a therapist at Wilmington Family Counseling Services.

“Running helps me deal with stress and stay healthy and I believe in passing it forward," she said. "I again dedicate my run to Cara, Director of Clarke Boston, and appreciate all of the hard work and inspiration she and her staff give to the families they serve.”

Amanda Pelissier, of Brockton, will be running her fourth Falmouth Road Race for Clarke.

“Running is one of my loves and I am so excited that this year I get to do it in support of such a great cause. The Clarke Schools are doing something truly amazing. Through their dedication, they are providing children who are deaf and hard of hearing with the skills they need to live their lives to the fullest," Pelissier said.

Amy Zaferacopoulos, of Littleton, will be running her second Falmouth Road Race for Clarke.

“To be able to combine my passion for running with a cause I truly believe in is an incredible opportunity," she said. "Thank you to my friends, family and all who support me in my run for Clarke this year. My journey is a mere 7 miles but the impact will last a lifetime."

Clarke provides children who are deaf and hard of hearing with the listening, learning and spoken language skills they need to succeed. Annually, more than 1,000 children and their families benefit from programs and services at our five campus locations: Boston, Jacksonville, New York City, Northampton and Philadelphia.

Clarke impacts the lives of children and adults through educational and early childhood programs, hearing services, mainstream services, research, curriculum development and the teachers and professionals trained by Clarke who take their special skills to all parts of the world.
