Temple Beth Abraham Congregants Deliver Largest Private Food Drive for Canton Food Pantry

held its annual High Holy Day drive for the Canton Food Pantry. serves 300 folks and families who depend on food, toiletries and monetary donations to keep their heads above water. The congregants of Temple Beth Abraham, led by the Social Action Committee, collected record amounts of much needed necessities for . 

Over 100 families donated bags of food and toiletries to those in our community that need assistance. The Food Pantry, an all-volunteer program sponsored by the , provides free food to eligible residents who have been affected by economic problems.  

”We are very appreciative to Temple Beth Abraham,”  said Mary Ellen Hudner, co-director of the Canton Food Pantry. “We are always in need of food and we are grateful that we can consistently depend on Temple Beth Abraham’s Fall Food Drive. Other than the Post Office town-wide food drive, this is the largest organized food drive for the Canton Food Pantry.”

Lesley Shain, the chairman of the Social Action Committee of Temple Beth Abraham said, “I am so proud of my congregation. Our coat closet is overflowing with much needed food and toiletries for the Canton Food Pantry. There must be close to 100 bags that are filled to the brim.”   

The social action program is a vehicle for Temple Beth Abraham congregants to help give back to the community.

"I want to thank all who gave so generously to this worthy organization as well as, acknowledge Shaw’s Supermarkets for donating the collection bags,” continued Lesley Shain.

Temple Beth Abraham continues to support the Canton Food Pantry, as well as other organizations that serve the greater community. Additional donations for the Pantry are being collected at Canton Co-operative Bank, Bank of America, Bank of Canton, Pratt Realty, Walgreens and Canton Library. 

The Temple Beth Abraham Community commends Mary Ellen Hudner for generously volunteering her time at the Food Pantry.  We are sorry to see her go but we are excited to continue our commitment to the pantry with Cindy Poshkus, who will now be at the helm.
