Canton Monday Essentials: Life is Good Festival, CPR Training, Hydrant Flushing

A look at what's going on this weekend in Canton.

1. Live music from Jack Johnson, Hall & Oates, The Roots, Amos Lee, Dawes, Trampled by Turtles , Delta Rae will be at this weekend at the Life is Good Festival.  For tickets, click here.

2. The Canton Senior Olympics will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Massachusetts Hospital School.  The event begins at 6 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.

3. The Canton Water Department will conduct daytime hydrant flushing starting Monday and continuing thru the week of October 21st.  The hours of flushing will be Monday throgh Friday between 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM.  You may experience discolored water while the water department is flushing in your neighborhood.   If you have any questions, please call 781-821-5017.

4. The Board of Selectmen are considering ways to improve curbside collection of solid waste and increase recycling and is asking the public to review the attached outreach and educational materials (in two parts). Please submit feedback and your suggestions on ways to tailor a final collection plan with a focus on improving the Town’s service to you.  Kindly submit your comments through September 26, 2013 to BOS@town.canton.ma.us

5. The Canton Fire Department will be offering CPR training on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Department.  The course takes approximately 2 hours.  The course is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job. It is ideal for students, new parents, grandparents, babysitters and others interested  in learning how to save a life.
