This school actually deserves negative stars for their rating, but that's not possible. If you think you need to give a kid shock treatment and starve them to keep them in line then I guess you should put your child in this school. In my personal opinion, the United Nations and the Governor of this state, this place is TORTURING CHILDREN!!! This is the only school in the United States with these practices, what does that tell you?? I can't believe it's actually gone on this long!

The Judge Rotenberg Educational Center provides behavioral modification treatments and education opportunities for children and adults aged three years and up. The Center provides a safe learning environment for students who are developmentally delayed or dealing with behavioral, emotional or psychiatric problems. Psychiatric drugs are not a part of a student's experience at the school except for extreme cases, and even then are minimized in favor of more positive rewards-oriented methods designed to alter and ultimately eliminate behavioral issues. I just got a call ! This bill passed last thursday and now its off to the Governor.Its the end of the road for The Judge Rotenberg Center !! The bill was approved by the NY State Senate and now its off to the Govenor. JRC can kiss the NY funding GoodBye...

I think the Judge Rotenberg Center should shut down, The place is just no good ! Oh ,some parents say its good but JRC supporters can be counted on one hand. I think for the most part JRC is one of the things people dont like to talk about. If they dont talk about it they can ignore it. Its much to easy for people to turn thier backs and just walk away.Thats how people and countrys get away with mass murder.
Any business that uses unethical, inhumane electrical shocks as "treatment" should be shut down.
I gave this place one star, since I don't advocate child abuse or that of torture.
But hey, if you want your kids to be electrocuted and beat, go ahead and give 'em five stars!

It has it's positives & negatives. My son has improved & he seems 2 be happy. He eats all his food . I feel there is unnessecary prolonged restraint. My son is very limited on communication skills.The schools in NY virtually taught him nothing . They gave him candy , soda & other sweets in attempts 2 calm him down . This hyped him up more . They could not control him . He has basically no alternatives . NYC /Spec Ed dismissed him because of aggressive behaviors. Without JRC , many children /adults have very few recourses.---Thx -JRC-

This agency should be shut down on moral grounds. Pity the poor parents who are cowed into sending their children there, and pity their poor children even more.
