Area Gas Prices Continue To Tumble

New England drivers still paying well above the national average.

As the Christmas travel season approaches, drivers are on the receiving end of some good news relative to gas prices. According to AAA Southern New England, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas (self-serve) dropped another seven cents this past week, to $3.47. The good news is that price is 14 cents lower than a month ago. The bad news is, New England drivers are still paying roughly 13 cents higher than the national average and a full 20 cents higher than the price of gas in December 2011. According to the gas stations surveyed by AAA, prices ranged from $3.33 to $3.75 for unleaded regular self-serve. Thanksgiving Travel to Increase Slightly This Year According to AAA

AAA Releases its Thanksgiving 2012 Travel Forecast.

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and that means people are thinking about the three Ts: turkey, trimmings and travel. Not only will it be a busy time in the kitchen, it will also be busy on the roads and at the airports.  But according to the AAA Thanksgiving 2012 Travel Forecast, this year will be busier than last, but not by much.  According to the report, AAA estimates 43.6 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles from home between November 21st and November 25th, up 0.7 percent from 43.3 million people during the holiday last year. Some 90 percent of this year's travelers will be hitting the roads, 39.1 million of them traveling by automobile. And as Thanksgiving approaches, gas prices are expected to continue on a downward …
