A week in review on Canton Patch.
It was a busy week of news, sports and arts here in Canton. On Thursday, a State Police K-9 discovered remains in the woods on Royall Street, across from Reebok. Officials announced that the bones were not human and were in fact animal remains. A Canton juvenile was arrested Wednesday after calling in a bomb threat, (although fake) to the Hansen School and a natural gas leak forced a few businesses to evacuate while repairs were made. Canton Public Schools are tackling bullying and educating parents on the subject and the Chamber of Commerce tackled the economy in a recent workshop. Canton Police arrested a 12-year-old for calling in a fake bomb scare to the elementary school.
A 12-year-old Canton student was arrested yesterday after calling in a fake bomb threat to the Hansen Elementary School. Canton Police and Fire departments responded to the 3:39 p.m. incident at the Pecunit Street school Wednesday. Canton Police Chief Kenneth Berkowitz said the child, who was not a student at the elementary school, called in the scare after school had ended for the day. The building was mostly empty, except for a handful of staff and after-school students, according to Superintendent of Schools Jeff Granatino. "It was evacuated immediately," the superintendent said.
