Blue Hills football standout Vincent Burton was named as the Division 4A player of the year by the Boston Globe. A fullback-linebacker, Burton ran for 2,196 yard, 36 touchdowns and lead Eastern Mass in scoring with 259 points. His performance put him in upper elchon of Eastern Massachusetts football all-time with 650-point, third best in state history and 5,530 yards, which is sixth all-time.
The Bulldogs had three All-Scholastics players this year.
The Boston Globe recently announced the All-Scholastics and All-Star players for the fall 2012 season and Canton has several athletes represented. Three Bulldog student-athletes took home All-Scholastic honors: In total, 61 athletes hailed from the South Shore area, according to an announcement Monday. The Boston Globe All-Scholastic teams are chosen for each of the three high school sports seasons – fall, winter and spring. The fall sports include football, girls’ swimming, golf, field hockey, volleyball, boys’ and girls’ cross country, and boys’ and girls’ soccer. “These student-athletes are among the best in eastern Massachusetts,” said Bob Holmes, high school sports editor for The Boston Globe, in a statement. “They remind us that …
