Former Employee Charged with Breaking into Canton DPH Facility, Stealing Agency's Gas Cards A former employee of the Department of Public Health (DPH) has been arrested and arraigned in connection with breaking into a Canton DPH facility on multiple occasions and stealing agency gas cards to purchase motor fuel, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced Wednesday. Mikel W. Beacham, age 33, of Randolph, was arrested this past Tuesday night in Canton without incident by State Police assigned to the AG’s Office. Upon arresting Beacham, authorities found a DPH gas card in his possession. Beacham is charged with Breaking and Entering in the Daytime with Intent to Commit a Felony, Larceny over $250, and Stealing in a Building. Click here to read…

Massachusetts State Police troopers are investigating an incident Friday morning on Route 95 North prior to Exit 12 in Canton where a 28-foot boat fell off a trailer and came to rest in the roadway.

The following information is from the Massachusetts State Police: Massachusetts State Police troopers are investigating an incident Friday morning on Route 95 North prior to Exit 12 in Canton where a 28-foot boat fell off a trailer and came to rest in the roadway. There are no reported injuries, although the right travel lane and the breakdown lane remain closed at this time. The MSP sent out an initial email alert to members of the media shortly before 11 a.m. on May 31. The facts and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation at this time.

William J. “Ginty” Wiederhold, Jr., 67, of Canton, died surrounded by his loving family May 23. He was the beloved husband of the late Judith A. (Tordoff), father of Rebecca Wiederhold and her fiance Daniel Souza of Stoughton, Audrey Gibson and her husband Kevin of Canton, Amy Wiederhold of Canton and the late Kristine Wiederhold. Mr. Weiderhold was the brother of the late Paul, John and Alfred Wiederhold. Brother in law of Janet Wiederhold of Stoughton, grandfather of Kalynn Souza and Kevin Gibson. Uncle of Linda Bethea and Laura Gillespie. He is also survived by his longtime companion Elizabeth Galvin of Canton. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. An amendement sponsored by Senator Brian A. Joyce (D-Milton) to protect the Fowl Meadow habitat on the Milton–Canton line has been voted to the State Senate's Fiscal Year 2014 budget, according to an announcement this week. The amendment requires anyone seeking to alter any priority habitat to receive a statement from the conservation commission of the city or town of the habitat before doing any work, according to the announcement. The statement would evaluate the proposed alteration on the habitat by considering such factors as the effects of the construction and chemicals on the environment, the potential of increased pollution due to new traffic, and the potential loss of recreation space. Canton Man Indicted in Alleged Logan Airport Taxi Bribery Scheme A Canton man was among five Massport employees indicted earlier this week by the Suffolk County Grand Jury for allegedly taking bribes in exchange for preferential treatment for taxi cab drivers picking up passengers at Logan Airport, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said. James Mulrey, 45, and the four others were named in a 53-count indictment. Mulrey is accused of five counts of soliciting or accepting a bribe as a public employee and two counts of soliciting or accepting an unlawful gratuity as a public employee.
