Canton High Boys' Ice Hockey to Face Oliver Ames Wednesday

The Canton High boys' ice hockey team will be playing Hockomock League rival Oliver Ames in the Division 2 South tournament Wednesday at Gallo Arena at 5:30 p.m.

  The Canton High boys' ice hockey team will take to the ice at Gallo Arena in Bourne against the Oliver Ames Tigers, Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Division 2 South semifinals. In the other semifinal game, Mansfield will face Franklin Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Mansfield defeated North Quincy, 2-1, in the quarterfinals, while Franklin beat Martha's Vineyard, 4-3, Saturday. Canton and Oliver Ames both posted 3-1 wins in the quarterfinals. The Bulldogs defeated North Attleboro and the Tigers defeated Coyle-Cassidy. The two winners will play for the Division 2 South title Sunday, March 10 at Gallo in a time to be announced.

Canton Patch Bulldog Scoreboard

The following is an update on the Canton High athletic teams.

  BOYS' ICE HOCKEY (3-3): The Bulldogs saw their record drop to .500 on the season with a 1-0 loss to Oliver Ames, Wednesday night. David Nolan scored the goal for the Tigers, while Colin Lozzi added the assist. OA goaltender Jimmy Teirney kept the Bulldogs off the scoring sheet with a 41 save effort. On New Year's Eve, the Bulldogs posted a 6-2 win over Norwell, breaking open a 2-2 tie after two periods. Brian Brooks scored two goals, while Michael Denehy, Tony Francescon, Pat Ward and JC Marcone netted single tallies for the Bulldogs. GIRLS' ICE HOCKEY (5-1): The Bulldogs notched their fifth win of the season with a 4-0 victory over Westwood Wednesday.
