A SUMMER OF MUSIC FOR KAZENEL-Canton's Daniel A. Kazenel is spending the summer with the Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI), a prestigious summer music program in Lenox. A bartone, Kazenel has studied vocal performance for four years, as well as cello for nearly nine years. The Canton High boys' ice hockey team will be holding a meeting Tuesday at 2 p.m.
1. MUGGY DAY AHEAD-Today is going to be warm and more humid, according to WHDH. There could be a few pop-up storms in the afternoon and highs will be in the lower 80. 2. After hearing appeals from high schools about where their football teams are slotted in the new football playoffs, the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association football committee gave seven appeals out 10 that was requested, according to a report in the Boston Herald. Changes for Arlington Catholic, Pope John, Matignon, Boston Latih, Diman, Mashpee and Maryland were approved With the divisions done, King Philip will find themselves in the 12 school Division 2 South, fighting for a playoff berth against Durfee, Taunton, Needham, Quincy, Barnstable, Braintree, Mansfield, Marshfield, Natick, Wellesley and Duxbury. A recap of Thanksgiving football action in the Hockomock League.
If anything, Thanksgiving once again proved how exciting and unpredictable the Hockomock League can be. The League's two playoff teams both lost; Stoughton and Mansfield's long Thanksgiving win streaks were snapped, while Oliver Ames extended its streak; the King Philip/Franklin and Stoughton/Canton games came down to the wire, with the KP/Franklin game being decided in the final seconds, and with Stoughton/Canton being decided in overtime, and Foxborough orchestrated a second-half comeback vs. Mansfield. The other games were blowouts. Thanksgiving marked the end of the season for nine of the teams in the league, but Mansfield (Division 2) and Sharon (Division 3) will head to the postseason, playing in a semifinal game Tuesday night, …

Canton beat Stoughton on Thanksgiving for the first time since 2004, with the Bulldogs earning a stunning victory in overtime.
For the first time since 2004, the Canton High football team beat Stoughton on Thanksgiving, with the Bulldogs shocking the heavily-favored Black Knights, 28-26, Thursday in Stoughton. And for the first time in the 87-year history of the Thanksgiving rivalry, the game was decided in overtime. After Frankie Morris got Stoughton on the board first in overtime with a two-yard touchdown run, giving the Black Knights a 26-20 lead after the two point conversion attempt was fumbled, Canton responded with a five-yard touchdown run by Shane Nordgren to tie the game. Canton then won on Dexter Green's successful two-point conversion run. With the win, Canton finishes the season at 3-6 and 2-2 in the Hockomock League's Davenport Division. Stoughton …

Inside the numbers: A look at the series history between the two Thanksgiving rivals (statistics from the Hockomock League football website).
This upcoming Thursday’s Thanksgiving morning game between Stoughton and Canton marks the 87th consecutive time the two schools have gone head to head on the holiday. The rivalry dates back to 1926. Stoughton will play host to this year’s game (Thursday, Nov. 22, 10 a.m. at Stoughton High). Stoughton holds a 43-39-4 edge in the all-time series, aided by having won the past seven Thanksgiving games, dating back to 2005, including last year's 27-7 victory in Canton. The Black Knights will look to make it eight in a row this year. While Stoughton hasn’t always dominated the series - Canton won all but one game between 1976-1991 - the Black Knights have taken control of the series under head coach Greg Burke. The Canton High volleyball team will play Melrose Tuesday night at Billerica in a 7 p.m. start in the Division 2 state semifinals. The winner will advance to the state title game Saturday at Algonquin Regional in a 3 p.m. game. Saturday, the Bulldogs defeated a past tournament nemis Medfield, 3-2, after falling behind 2-0 at Hudson High. Medfield won 25-18 and 25-22, before the Dogs rallied 26-24, 25-22 and 15-9 to win their first sectional championship. Standouts for the Bulldogs were Julia Murphy, 25 kills, nine blocks and three aces, Avery Devone, 17 kills and seven blocks and Jackie Bornemann, nine kills, two aces and 17 digs. -The Canton High football …

The Bulldogs will now be at home Thursday against either Medway or Westborough.
