Proposal Calls for Nearly 350 New Housing Units in Canton A consultant's report regarding a newly-proposed housing development for 348 units in downtown Canton is expected to be completed by the end of February. The Canton Board of Selectmen will neither decline or oppose the proposal until they review the report. Details in the proposal include 64 town house units, 80 age-restricted units for residents aged 55 and older, and 204 apartments, according to Boston.com. Mortgage Broker from Canton Arrested for Alleged Drug Vilations, More News From Around the Region

Canton Mortgage Broker Arrested for Alleged Drug Violations Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey’s Drug Task Force, along with Canton and Stoughton detectives, seized close to 70 pounds of alleged marijuana and $110,000 in possible drug proceeds – arresting four, including a mortgage broker from Canton. William H. Newman, age 32, of Canton pled not guilty Wednesday, Jan. 23, at his Stoughton District Court arraignment to trafficking in marijuana and conspiracy to violate the drug law. Assistant District Attorney Michael C. Connolly asked that Newman successfully argued for $50,000 cash bail. He is due back Feb. 12 for pre-trial conference.   Sen. Joyce Requests Ban on Skin Shock Devices at Canton's JRC Sen. Brian Joyce (D-Milton) this week requested the agency ban of painful skin shock devices as part of a testimony submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).   Joyce, who represents Canton and Sharon , requested the ban of all Graduated Electronic Decelerators (GED) specifically for use at the Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC) in Canton. The FDA is expected to conduct a hearing with JRC representatives concerning the use of GED 3A and 4 devices, which are currently used to administer painful electric shocks to disabled children at the Canton facility without FDA approval.
