Canton Police Assist With Shooting Outside Whiplash Nightclub in Stoughton

Two were hospitalized as a result of the Sunday morning shooting.

Stoughton Police and the Massachusetts State Police are in the midst of an investigation to find the involved parties in a shooting outside Whiplash Nightclub that sent two to Boston area hospitals early Sunday morning. Canton Police assisted on the scene. The following information is from the Stoughton Police Department Facebook Page: On April, 21 2013 at 0045, a shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Trackside Plaza, adjacent to the Whiplash nightclub. Stoughton Police Officers were already on scene and quelling a fight inside the nightclub when the shots rang out. Canton Officials Attend DA Safety Assessment Meeting

Two school officials and one Canton police officer were among 50 who joined in the meeting of the Norfolk County School Safety Task Force last week.

Brooklyn Man Arrested in Canton For Allegedly Accepting Nearly $1M Worth of Marijuana

The suspect allegedly accepted about 300 pounds of the drug.

Massachusetts state and local police arrested a Brooklyn, New York man in town on Friday for allegedly accepting a marijuana delivery valued at nearly $1 million, according to reports.  Thomas Jin Kim, of Brooklyn, was taken into custody after taking possession of nearly 300 pounds of pot, according to a report on WCVB.com, and was subsequently charged with trafficking in marijuana. Retired Canton Police Officer Offers 'Pepper Spray Confident Classes'

You can protect yourself with pepper spray if you know how to use it.

A Canton police officer for 25 years, Jack Spierdowis, now retired, believes that there is no need for guns. "You can protect yourself with pepper spray if you know how to use it," said Spierdowis. "You would be surprised by how many people ask me how close they should be to the other person before they spray." Spierdowis teaches pepper gas instruction classes which he calls "Pepper Spray Confident Classes." He teaches how to hold the bottle, the effects of pepper spray and how close you have to be to effectively use the spray, restrictions, delivery and license application. Kevin Foley, a lifelong resident of Canton, former police officer and Disabled Veteran from serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, opens a gym in Canton.

You might remember Kevin Foley as Officer Foley from the Canton Police Force, where he served as a police officer seven years. He is also a lifelong resident of Canton and a Disabled Veteran from serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Foley recently left police work to follow his dream and focus on his passion of being a fitness guru. He opened Crossfit Home Base on 960 Turnpike St. in Canton just a few weeks ago. Cross Fit is a new trend in group classes.  "My classes include olympic lifting, gymnastics, conditioning, help understanding nutrition as well as individualized training," said Foley. Blue Hills Student To Be Charged With Making a False Bomb Threat

A 17-year-old student at Blue Hills Regional Technical School allegedly made a false bomb threat on Monday.

Michael Virgona, 17, of 580 Adams St., Milton, a student at Blue Hills Regional Technical School, was summonsed to court on charges of making a false bomb threat and disturbing a school, according to the April 30, 2012 Canton Police Log. According to the Canton Police Lt. Helena Findlen,  on 8:45am Monday,  police responded to a report of a bomb scare at Blue Hill Regional on Randolph St. A group of students were discussing bomb threats at their previous schools, when Virgona allegedly wrote a note and it fell to the ground. Someone put the note in the garbage, where it was later found by a teacher and reported to authorities, said Lt. Findlen. “We used an abundance of caution and the kids were evacuated from the school,” said Findlen. …
