The quest to become the "Washington outsider" representing the Republican Party in this year's Massachusetts special senate election was underway at Stonehill College Tuesday night when GOP candidates met in their first primary debate. "Electing either of the Democratic nominees would be a sign of 'surrender' that we have given up," State Representative Daniel B. Incumbent Scott Brown and challenger Elizabeth Warren squared off in their first debate Thursday night.
Republican Senator Scott Brown faced off against Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren Thursday night in a debate televised by WBZ-TV. The Thursday debate was the first of four planned tilts between the candidates, and it saw disagreement between the two on just about every topic. Polls have seesawed over the last week, with Brown and Warren swapping small leads, as they have throughout the campaign. The debates may provide one or the other an opportunity to change voter minds and swing the election his or her way. Central to Thursday's debate was the focus on taxes, jobs and the economy. 2,800-Mile Takeout Run: Mississippi Man Returns Home with 250 Pizzas from Stoughton's Town Spa Most people have a favorite pizza place. For David Schuler his is Town Spa in Stoughton, about 1,400 miles away from his Madison, Mississippi home. But that doesn't prevent Schuler, a Stoughton native, from enjoying a slice (or more) of his favorite hometown pizza. Schuler made headlines last August when he drove from his home in Madison, Miss. (north of Jackson, Miss.) to Town Spa and back again to pick up an order of 150 pizzas. He upped the ante this year by placing an order of 250 pizzas. Canton's Annual Town Meeting kicked off last night.
Just over 400 residents came out to attend the first night of Canton's Annual Town Meeting. The four-hour night meeting, held at Canton High, featured much debate around Warrant Article 34, the local meals tax, and Article 17, the rezoning article that would allow the old Plymouth Rubber site to be developed into apartments and shops.
