President Barack Obama capped off the Democratic National Convention with a speech that highlighted his foreign policy wins, health care reform and immigration reform on Thursday. Over three nights, Democratic leaders took aim at Republican nominee, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and his running mate Congressman Paul Ryan. A number of Massachusetts Democrats spoke at the convention, including Gov. Deval Patrick, Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren and Senator John Kerry. Congressman Barney Frank and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino are also scheduled to speak tonight.
Similar to the first night of the Democratic National Convention, Massachusetts will be in full force on the second night. Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, Congressman Barney Frank and Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren are all scheduled to speak during tonight’s session. Menino is scheduled to speak in the 5 p.m. hour, Frank will speak in the 8 p.m. hour and Warren will speak in the 10 p.m. hour. Warren will speak shortly before Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and President Bill Clinton. Gov. Deval Patrick and Congressional candidate Joseph Kennedy III spoke during the first night of the DNC. Gov. Deval Patrick is scheduled in the 9 p.m. hour.
The Democratic National Convention will have a Massachusetts feel tonight as Gov. Deval Patrick and Congressional candidate Joe Kennedy III are scheduled to speak before the convention. Kennedy is scheduled to speak during the 7 p.m. hour after a Kennedy family tribute video. Two hours later, Patrick is scheduled to finish the 9 p.m. hour. The night will also include a number of prominent speakers, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reed, Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee, and Secretary of Health and Human Services Director Kathleen Sibelius and conclude with a speech by First Lady Michelle Obama.
