Meaghan is a three-year starter, who also excels off the field and in the classroom. She is a coach on the field who constantly studies the game and works hard to make herself better. Strong finish for Mansfield doesn't bring them over the edge, Hornets lose 4-1.
The Hornets couldn't start a scoring run against Canton High on Thursday, and lost to CHS 4-1. Early on in the first half, Canton scored two goals on Mansfield, who was unable to answer during their first loss of the season. "They had real good pace," Mansfield Head Coach Theresa Degirolamo said. "They got some quick goals and I think we lost some enthusiasm." Canton scored three goals total in the first half. Mansfield came back offensively in the second, making more attampts at the Canton goal, but was only able to score one goal. "We had a really strong first half," Canton Head Coach Fior Griffin said. "In the second half I think we got a little bit tired. We gave them a few more oppertunities than we needed to." Mansfield's record now …

The Bulldogs have dominated the Hockomock League over the past two decades.
There are only a handful of high school teams that dominate their sports, year after year. One of these special groups of athletes is the Canton High School Field Hockey team. The Bulldogs have dominated the Hockomock League over the past two decades. The team has captured South Sectional titles, including in each of the last two years, and captured the State Title in 2004 and 2006, and in 2007 losing in overtime in the State Title Game. What’s even more impressive, during this span, is it has been with different groups of players and three different coaches. “It is a big winning tradition and it continues over a long period of time because of the hard work and off and on-season preparation and commitment by every player and coach," said …

Canton Patch takes a look back at the news in Canton during 2010.
After bidding farewell to 2010, and ushering in the New Year, take a moment to reflect with Canton Patch. Although we only launched November 18, 2010, we enjoyed covering the town for the last two months of the year. Here is a look at some of the stories we covered on Canton Patch in 2010. We look forward to covering plenty more news, sports, events and announcements in 2011. Happy New Year! Canton celebrated Halloween with some trick or treating, a parade and a fun run. And later that week, on Election Night, Selectmen Robert Burr lost his bid for state senate to Senator Joyce. It was a disappointing Thanksgiving Day for Canton High. The Bulldogs suffered a loss to their arch-rivals, the Stoughton Black Knights. On the bright…

Bulldogs lose to defending state champions Watertown in MIAA Div. 2 semifinal played in North Andover Tuesday night.
Canton's field hockey team created offensive pressure and shots on goal, but the Bulldogs could not score against defending state champions, Watertown, losing the MIAA Div. 2 state semifinal 1-0, Tuesday night. The teams raced up and down the field at North Andover High School, but despite both teams having scoring opportunities the first half ended scoreless. Just 1:14 into the second half, however, Watertown found the back of the goal. Junior Lauren Giordano knocked in a pass from junior Erika Kelly to make the score 1-0.
