Canton Fire Log: Engine 2 Assists in Three-Alarm Fire in Milton

Nov. 21 10:13 p.m. - A stove top cooking fire was reported on Oakdale Road. Grease in a pan caught on fire and filled the house with smoke, according to reports from the Canton Fire Department. The resident of the home was able to put fire out with an extinguisher. The Canton Fire Department ventilated house to get the smoke out. Nov. 23 12:51 a.m. - The Canton Fire Department, Engine 2 assisted in a three-alarm fire in Milton after a three-family home on Oakdale Road in Milton caught fire.

The Call of Chief Doody

Canton Fire Chief, Charles E. Doody, brings a historical perspective to community safety.

A self-described "townie," Canton Fire Chief Charles E. Doody is proud of his roots. On Nov. 1, the chief celebrated his one-year anniversary in command of the Canton Fire Department. His long tenure in Canton—from Canton High School class of '85 to 15 years with the CFD—is a major reason for his rise to the head of the department. After high school, the Canton native ventured north and attended the University of New Hampshire for six years. There he received a Bachelor's in English and a Master's in Education. He wanted to be a teacher and for three years taught at Cohasset High School.
