The divisional round of the NFL playoffs begins this weekend in Denver when the Broncos host the Baltimore Ravens at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Locally, the New England Patriots host the Houston Texans Sunday at Gillette Stadium. Kick-off in Foxborough is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Patriots fans hoping for another AFC Championship game will be tuning in Saturday to cheer on the Ravens against Peyton Manning and the Broncos while fans wanting to see a Brady-Manning showdown with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line will be favoring the Broncos Saturday. Patch will be providing the latest cancellations and updates throughout the day, because of Hurricane Sandy. Senator Scott Brown has decided to not to attend Tuesday's debate with Elizabeth Warren at WGBH, because of Hurricane Sandy. The Mega Business Expo scheduled for Gillette Stadium in Foxborough Tuesday has been postponed until Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 3-7 p.m. The MBTA will be shutting down service at 2 p.m. The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette at 947 Park St., Attleboro, will be closed on Monday, Oct. 29. All services and ministries has been cancelled. UMass-Dartmouth will be closed Tuesday, Oct. 30, effective at 12:01 a.m. because of the expected impacts of Hurricane Sandy on the region. Four Canton High students were honored at the 17th Annual MIAA/MSSADA Sportsmanship Summit, held at Gillette Stadium's Fidelity Investments Clubhouse.
Canton High School senior Sara Teague was among four members of the MIAA Student Advisory Committee honored at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro that featured New England Patriots Owner Robert Kraft and several keynote speakers. The "Promoting Student Leadership Opportunities in Your School" program honored students for achievements in leadership and sports. Teague said her cross-country coach had told her about the advisory committee. "Student leaders go far beyond athletes," she said. "You just have to find them." Teague said among Canton High's community service projects is Christmas in the City. Students take the bus to Boston and do "simple, simple things," such as hosting a dinner for people in homeless shelters, she said. The students …
