A Technology Upgrade Being Considered for Canton Public Schools

The School Committee discussed a proposal by Hub Tech last night.

 The Canton School Committee is considering a serious tech upgrade for Canton Public Schools. In last night's three and a half hour School Committee meeting, members heard from Hub Tech, a technology company, that presented a plan to put all Canton public schools under a single computer domain. The $210,000 technology upgrade would virtualize the schools' domains, downsize the number of servers, allow all the schools to communicate on the same system and would provide equal access to all students and staff.  It would also allow the schools to keep using computers until they broke down, eradicating the need for new computers every few years and saving the district a substantial amount of cash. This may have benefits if applied to the elementary and middle school kids. Parents could log them on via the school site, and it could potentially be used as an excellent filter!!! Safety bonus!   more ›
