Baskin-Robbins to Expand in China

The local ice cream chain plans to open nearly 250 shops in China during the next decade.

Canton-based Baskin-Robbins has signed franchise agreements as it plans to triple its presence in China, according to a Boston.com report on Wednesday.  Along with Dunkin' Donuts, also based in Canton, Baskin-Robbins is part of the parent company Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc. The ice-cream chain said in a news release on Wednesday that the company is projecting to open 249 Baskin-Robbins shops in China during the next 10 years. Currently, the company has more than 90 locations in China, including shops in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Hangzhou and Zhengzhou. Baskin-Robbins Winner Whipped Up Sweet Treats in Canton

The winner of the Second Annual Baskin-Robbins Flavor Creation Contest created her Nutty Cream Cheese Brownie ice cream in Canton on Tuesday.

Canton got a little sweeter with the arrival of Kelsey Lien, the winner of the Second Annual Baskin-Robbins Flavor Creation Contest. The Santa Clarita, California native won the Canton-based company's online contest with her innovative ice cream creation entry, “Nutty Cream Cheese Brownie,” which was selected from tens of thousands of submissions. As part of her grand-prize, Kelsey worked in the Baskin-Robbins culinary kitchen in Canton to bring her creation to life. The flavor will debut in Baskin-Robbins stores nationwide in November 2012.  “Nutty Cream Cheese Brownie” is a flavorful combination of chocolate fudge ice cream swirled with a cream cheese ribbon, combined with walnuts and fudge brownie pieces. -Contributed by Baskin-Robbins.

Canton-Based Baskin-Robbins Announces Finalists in Second Annual Ice Cream Creation Contest

Finalists Receive free ice cream for a year and the winning flavor will be available in Baskin-Robbins in July 2012.

Baskin-Robbins has selected the top 10 finalists in its second National Online Flavor Creation Contest. Baskin-Robbins is now calling on ice cream devotees across the country to vote for their favorite. The winning flavor will be the July 2012 Flavor of the Month. From October 1 through October 31, fans had an opportunity to be their very own “dessert chef” and create an ice cream flavor with the Baskin-Robbins virtual flavor creator. Ice Cream anyone? Baskin Robbins serves up new sweet treat to make you think of summer.

Frozen temperatures. Check. Hats and gloves. Check. Ice cream. Check. Canton-based Baskin-Robbins announced a new ice cream flavor Monday, ironically, on the coldest day of the year. The flavor was created by contest-winner Diane Sroga, who laughed at the thought of being in Canton making ice cream on the frigid day.  “If you love ice cream, you love ice cream no matter how cold it is.  Plus I’m from Chicago; weather is not a problem!” Before Sroga entered Canton’s Baskin-Robbins’ online flavor creation contest, she had never entered any kind of contest.
