Suspicious Vehicle Containing Propane Tanks Found in Canton

The vehicle was found on Turnpike Street Tuesday morning; a portion of Rte. 138 was closed off while crews responded.

A day after two explosions shook the Boston Marathon, local and state police crews responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in Canton Tuesday morning that contained several propane tanks, Canton Police said.  A custodian at the Bay State School of Technology reported seeing a suspicious-looking vehicle in the parking lot of 225 Turnpike St. to Canton Police Tuesday morning. The vehicle reportedly contained propane tanks, with one being connected to the vehicle's engine with a hose, according to Canton Police Sgt. Robert Gooley. It was not immediately clear if there was any connection between the vehicle and the incidents in Boston on Monday. The school was evacuated as a precaution, WHDH reported.  A portion of Rte. 138 was closed off…

No Charges Issued After Vehicle at Bay State School of Technology Investigated

Canton Police are saying there was "no criminal interest evident" with car parked at the Bay State School of Technology Tuesday morning. Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad was called in.

A suspicious vehicle found at the Bay State School of Technology was investigated by the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad this morning, but is being called "a situation of lapse of judgement and no criminal interest was evident," according the Canton Police.  No charges are being filed.  Canton police were able to identify and talk to the person, who had control of the leased vehicle. There is no link to the explosion that happened at the Boston Marathon Monday, Canton police officials announced Tuesday. Canton Police received a call about the vehicle at 7:25 a.m. from an employee at the school about a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Massachusetts State Police Make Six Arrests at Canton Checkpoint

The Massachusetts State Police conducted a checkpoint on Neponset Street in Canton Friday.

State Police to Hold Sobriety Checkpoint in Norfolk County This Upcoming Weekend

Massachusetts State Police will run extra safety checks on vehicles in the area on Friday, April 5 into Saturday, April 6.

If you spot a Massachusetts state trooper camped out by the side of the road somewhere in Norfolk County this weekend, he or she may be doing more than just watching for speedsters. Colonel Timothy P. Alben, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced a sobriety checkpoint will be established on an undisclosed public way in Norfolk County from Friday, April 5 into Saturday, April 6. Alben said the purpose of the checkpoint is to further educate motorists and strengthen public awareness to the need of both detecting drivers who are operating under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and taking them off the road. Brooklyn Man Arrested in Canton For Allegedly Accepting Nearly $1M Worth of Marijuana

The suspect allegedly accepted about 300 pounds of the drug.

Massachusetts state and local police arrested a Brooklyn, New York man in town on Friday for allegedly accepting a marijuana delivery valued at nearly $1 million, according to reports.  Thomas Jin Kim, of Brooklyn, was taken into custody after taking possession of nearly 300 pounds of pot, according to a report on WCVB.com, and was subsequently charged with trafficking in marijuana. Canton police made the arrest around 2 p.m. Friday along with Massachusetts State Police, Stoughton police and members of the Drug Enforcement Agency, according to the report.  Check out the video with the Canton poilce at WHDH.  The arrest came after police obtained a tip about a transaction that was set to happen Friday, according to a NECN report. State Police Arrested 1,100 More for OUI in 2012

Massachusetts State Police and local police departments will be out this holiday weekend looking for drunk, impaired and dangerous drivers.

Drunk driving arrests by Massachusetts State Police increased by 30 percent or more than 1,100 drivers, said Massachusetts State Police Superintendent Colonel Timothy Allen at a press conference outside of Massachusetts State Police headquarters in Framingham Friday morning.  As of yesterday, Dec. 27, Massachusetts State Police had arrested 4,866 individuals and charged them with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. In 2011, Massachusetts State Police arrested 3,728 individuals. Massachusetts State Police and local police departments will be out in force this holiday weekend looking for drunk, impaired and dangerous drivers on the roads, as part of their Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over holiday campaign. State Troopers Recognized for Helping in NY, NJ After Hurricane Sandy

"There's nothing that I can compare to what I saw down there," said one of the 25 troopers that helped out after Sandy devastated nearby states.

Before Hurricane Sandy's full scope of devastation in New York and New Jersey was even known, 25 men and women from the Massachusetts State Police were on their way to assist those who had been displaced from their homes.   "When I reached out to ask if the state police would be willing to field a group of 25 people, I already knew the answer," Undersecretary for Homeland Security and Director of MEMA, Kurt Schwartz said in a press conference in Framingham Monday afternoon. State Police to Hold Sobriety Checkpoint in Norfolk County Saturday

A routine sobriety checkpoint for drivers in Norfolk County is slated for the holiday weekend.

Drivers in the Norfolk County area should take note that Massachusetts State Police will hold a sobriety checkpoint Saturday night into Sunday, Nov. 24 and 25, according to an announcement from Colonel Timothy P. Alben, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police.  "The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from the roadways," the statement reads.
