This recipe will make you the life of the football party.

I'm not a psychic, but I know what you will be doing Sunday from 6:30 p.m. to about 10 p.m., at least most of you. You will be watching the big game between our New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens, as the teams battle on the gridiron to determine who will go to the Super Bowl in New Orleans. Whether you are going to a big party or watching the game alone in a secret room so nobody can see your emotional reaction to every play, you need snack foods. You'll have to find the chips on your own, but here is recipe for a chili-cheese dip to go along with those chips. This recipe comes from Judy Putnam , editor of the Peachtree Corners Patch in Georgia. Enjoy the snacks, and Go Pats! Ingredients Directions Layer the ingredients in the…

Editors' Picks: Most Notable Sports Moment of 2012

Your group of local patch editors weighs in on the standout sports moments of the year.

Editor's Note: The following is part of a special "end-of-the-year" series in which local editors from your nearby Patch towns highlight their favorites in various topics.   Jonathan Friedman - Editor, Attleboro-Seekonk Patch From my earliest days through college, I was a competitive swimmer. I was never good enough to be an Olympian, but I have a tremendous respect for those who are. And every four years, it is exciting to see swimming in the spotlight. Special kudos go to Michael Phelps, who looked like he had lost his magic when he didn't even win a medal in his first individual event, the 400 IM (first time since 2000 that had happened), but then regained it later in the week with spectacular wins in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, while…

PHOTOS: Patriots Overcome Sloppy Play to Beat Jaguars Sunday

The New England Patriots found an ugly way to win Sunday in Jacksonville, earning a 23-16 victory over the Jaguars to keep pace for a first-round playoff bye in the AFC.

It certainly wasn't pretty but the New England Patriots found a way to beat the Jaugars Sunday in Jacksonville and keep pace for one of the top two playoff seeds in the AFC. The Patriots (11-4) overcame a slow start filled with mistakes on both sides of the ball to beat Jacksonville, 23-16. Quarterback Tom Brady didn't have his best day on the field but managed to end the day with 267 yards passing and two touchdowns. However he only completed 58 percent of his asses and threw two first half interceptions. Running back Stevan Ridley rebounded from a disappointing, two-fumble game against the San Francisco 49ers last week to gain 84 yards on 18 carries (4.7 average). In the receiving game, Wes Welker hauld in 10 passes for 88 yards and one …

New England Patriots to Pay Tribute to Newtown Shooting Victims Sunday Night

The New England Patriots will wear black-ribbon logos on their helmets and hold a moment of silence before Sunday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers in Foxborough.

Foxborough will be center stage of the National Football League world for the second time in six days Sunday night when the New England Patriots host the San Francisco 49ers in primetime on NBC's Sunday Night Football. But even a game with so much significance on playoff positioning will simply be less important in the wake of Friday's tragedy in Newtown, Conn. The New England Patriots, along with the rest of the country, will have the 26 victims of Friday's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on their minds and in their hearts during Sunday's game at Gillette Stadium. In recognition of Friday's tragedy, the Patriots plan to honor the 20 children and six adults killed in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School by wearing black-…
