I second the motion to update the town website & make more information available on it. On nearly every other town website you can pull up asessor's maps & assessment information but not on Canton's.   more ›

Weight Watcher's New Points System Scores Big

Just in time for the New Year, Weight Watchers has re-vamped their Points System.

Weight Watchers has embarked on a new Points system.  Out goes their 13-year-old "calorie is a calorie" mantra, where a mere banana cost you 2 Points and protein and fiber were not on the calculation radar.  Now with "Points Plus," dieters are going to see an entirely new points system that bases points on a more science- based concept called "thermogenesis." As suspected, all calories are not made equal.  Indeed, a fat calorie will quickly meet its target, often where you least need padding.  Fat takes little processing, or "work" from the digestive system before it is whisked away to its new and often permanent home.  Protein and fiber, however, give the digestive system a "workout" as the body takes longer and actually burns calories to…
