Outgoing lieutenant governor said recent controversies had nothing to do with decision to resign.
Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Tim Murray said none of the controversies that have dogged him during his tenure on Beacon Hill contributed to his decision to announce his resignation. In a press conference at the State House Wednesday, Murray said his final day on the job will be June 2. The next day he will take over as president and CEO of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce where his salary will reportedly be around $200,000. In January, Murray said he had no intention of running for governor when Gov. Deval Patrick's term expires in January 2015. "This has been a very difficult but empowering decision," Murray said. "It has been an honor to serve as lieutenant governor." Patrick called Murray an "outstanding partner" during his time in …

Dr. David Miller said he was "cautiously optimistic" about Winchester native and MBTA Officer Richard Donohue Jr.'s recovery after he was wounded during a shoot-out with the Boston Marathon bombing suspects early Friday morning.
During a press conference Sunday afternoon at Mount Auburn Hospital, Dr. David Miller said he was "cautiously optimistic" about Winchester native and MBTA Officer Richard Donohue Jr.'s recovery after he was wounded during a shoot-out with the Boston Marathon bombing suspects early Friday morning. Following the conference, Dr. Russell Nauta, professor of surgery at Mount Auburn Hospital, explained what happened to Donohue Jr. "He was shot through the anterior thigh and there was an entrance wound and no exit wound so the bullet remains in the leg," Nauta said, adding that there were no fractures and partial transection of three out of the four blood vessels that are in the leg. "There was bleeding from the wound that led to cardiac arrest …

Send us your snowdog videos!
Nevermind the underwater diving dogs. Yeah, that's pretty awesome. But there are few things cuter than a snowdog in action. There are also few things cuter than a dog who doesn't like the snow that is attempting to do his or her "business" quickly and get back inside. Your pet is "wild" again, at one with nature, surviving the pile-up by leaping joyfully through it all. We want your video clips of dogs in the snow. Chances are, we won't find many felines who are enjoying the storm, but if so, we welcome those, too. Heck, if you've got a potbellied pig or a horse who is out in the snow, bring it on. Upload them right to this page by clicking the "Upload Photos and Videos" button!

Governor Deval Patrick addressed the Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce to discuss how he plans to improve the Commonwealths economic development.
Gov. Deval Patrick spoke to the Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday to discuss economic opportunities and job growth. And with the sequester on the minds of many business owners, Governor Patrick believed that it was still too early to tell what can happen in Massachusetts. "The question is if it that does happen, will it happen right away? Or at the next fiscal year? We don't know," he said. But he was confident that the investments that are currently being made in education and infrastructure will not only help the economy, but will also help future generations. "I thought to myself, 'Our grandparents gave us that.' Like Rte. 3 and I-95 or the street I came down to get here this morning; like the T and Logan Airport and UMass…

Artists Carig McConnell and John Grieve carved the holiday decoration on Wednesday afternoon.
A group of ice sculptors took to Canton's Village Shoppes on Wednesday to carve a special decoration for Valentine's Day. The sculptors, Craig McConnell and John Grieve, carved a large heart out of ice in front of Especially for Pets. Together with chain saws in hand they formed the perfect heart where later on in the afternoon children and adults could come and pose for a photo with the sculpture. Learn more about McConnell and Grieve at Imagesinice.us. Taking a photo in front of the sculpture? Upload it here!
