Pet of the Week: Meet Sassa

  Sassafrass is a 2-year-old cutie pie who is looking for her new home. She was originally found as a stray and transferred to the Animal Rescue League by an Animal Control Facility. We believe her to be a pit bull mix, but your guess is as good as ours! Sassy (as we affectionately call her) is a joy to be around. She is quite affectionate! No known aggression or guarding issues that we have seen here. She is a favorite for the volunteers to take overnight and they have reported that she is very well behaved in the home setting after she becomes familiar. Pet of the Week: Diamond

Diamond is a large American Staffordshire terrier. She is incredibly sweet and knows basic obedience commands. Because Diamond is a large dog who can sometimes become jumpy when she is excited, we recommend that she goes to a home with no children or only children over the age of 13. Diamond is selective about which dogs she gets along with, so we also recommend that she goes to a home with no other dogs. Diamond is spayed and she has been vaccinated and given a clean bill of health by a veterinarian. Her adoption fee is $205.00. Pet of the Week: Colby

If you can provide a home for a great cat who wants to be your little buddy, then you will definitely want to meet Colby. This adorable and very friendly orange and white tabby cat is sweet and mellow and totally enjoys being  around people. He follows his foster family around like a little puppy dog all in an effort to have the opportunity to sit beside a person. He is very affectionate and lovable. Colby gets along well with the cats in his foster home and would make a nice friend for a gentle, welcoming cat  or he would also be fine as the only pet. Pet of the Week: Ashley

Ashley is a very friendly, affectionate cat. This pretty tabby and white kitty loves people and loves attention. She is social and outgoing. Ashley is only about 10 or 11 months old and can be silly and playful. She is great at entertaining herself and can make a toy out of anything small that happens to be on the floor. Ashley is great with people and really wants to be the only pet in her new home. Ashley was a stray and no owner called to claim her. She was not spayed, of course she is now. Pet of the Week: Ruby

Ruby is a very pretty white cat with double paws and deep amber eyes. She is confident, friendly and social and enjoys meeting new people. Ruby is an agreeable cat and is comfortable being picked up and held. She likes to be petted and brushed and purrs with contentment. She can also be exceptionally silly and playful.   She loves to stalk, run, pounce, tumble, and leap into the air with excitement all in an effort to catch up to a string toy, a game which never seems to get old for Ruby. She is very fun and entertaining. Ruby acts like a rough and tumble kind of cat now, but she was very near death when she was first rescued. Pets of the Week: Starlight and Ricky

Starlight and Ricky are best friends and we are in search of a family with room in their home and hearts for this adorable pair. Starlight is the pretty tortie cat. She is about 1-2 years old. She is very sweet, gentle, mellow, outgoing, social and loves attention. Ricky is the beautiful fluffy orange Maine Coon type kitten, about 5 months old, who looks like he may grow into a big boy. Starlight was rescued with a litter of newborn kittens. Her kittens had all been adopted and she was waiting patiently for a family. Pet of the Week: Andy

This little tuxedo kitten needs a good home.

How this adorable little tuxedo kitten came to be a stray is a mystery. Andy is now safe and sound in an NVHS foster home and is very eager for a family to call his own. Andy is about five months old. He was so frightened when he was first rescued. Now that he knows he is safe and loved. Andy is a super friendly, silly, playful, very lovable kitten. He loves people and purrs like crazy when he is cuddling or getting attention. He enjoys interactive play with his foster family and also enjoys play with other cats. Pet of the Week: Lulu

Each week we feature animals up for adoption from the Neponset Valley Humane Society.

Lulu is a super sweet, very affectionate, lovable and gentle cat. She is mostly white with gray patches on her head. She is about 6 or 7 years old and has spent her entire life in a tiny apartment where she lives with her human mother and feline brother. Lulu loves people. She is accustomed to having many visitors and is always eager to greet them. She has had regular visits from the grandchildren and she enjoys being around children. Her owner's health is failing and she is no longer able to care for Lulu. Sadly Lulu is overweight. This can be helped over time by regulating Lulu's food intake, feeding her small meals throughout the day and providing some space where she can exercise and play. Pet of the Week: Desmond

Each week we feature an adoptable pet from the Neponset Valley Humane Society.

Desmond is a super friendly, very handsome orange tabby cat who loves being around people. He is sweet, gentle, mellow and social. He can be a little playful but his favorite pastime is sitting in a lap.  He is very happy being a strictly indoor cat. He tolerates the other cats in his foster home but seems to prefer human companionship over felines. We estimate Desmond is about 2 years old. This very nice, affectionate cat is eager for a family to call his own. Desmond is one of the many unaltered stray cats rescued by NVHS volunteers.
