Stoughton becomes first ever Davenport Division champions.
At the beginning of the season, Stoughton Head Coach John Gallivan said one of the team’s goals was to become the first ever Davenport Division champions and on Tuesday night, they did just that, routing Canton High, 73-53. With the Bulldogs up 14-13 in the final seconds of the first quarter, Stoughton’s Marcus Middleton drained a three pointer from the corner to put the Black Knights up 16-14, and they never trailed again. “I thought that the team responded in the second half to some of the complaints that I had about our style of play,” Gallivan said. “I thought we were soft in terms of defending the paint and I thought we were very soft in terms of attacking the offensive glass.” Middleton, a sophomore captain, fueled the Black Knights …

Canton and Stoughton High's girls Powder Puff Football teams battled to a tie.
Heating up the old rivalry, the girls stole the show in a little pre-Thanksgiving battle. Canton High School's Bulldogs took on Stoughton High School's Black Knights in a Powder Puff Football matchup this afternoon at Canton High. With a final score of 12-12, the girls marked their territory for a to-be-continued battle in tomorrow's Thanksgiving Day throwdown that the boys will finish. Catch tomorrow's game at 10:00 a.m. at Stoughton High School. Go Bulldogs!
After posting a 0-9-1 season, the Bulldogs are hoping to earn their first win of the season in Thursday's Thanksgiving Day showdown against the Black Knights.
For the Canton High football team, the 2010 season has emerged as a long and arduous one. After enduring tough losses along the way, the Bulldogs are hoping to taste their first victory of a rebuilding campaign in Thursday's 84th annual Thanksgiving Day showdown against arch-rivals Stoughton. The Bulldogs, who've struggled though a 0-9-1 campaign, have no doubt suffered their share of injuries, while working in some underclassmen along the way. Not only are the Bulldogs hoping to snap a prolonged win-less streak, but they're hoping to put a stop to a five-game Thanksgiving Day losing streak to the Black Knights.
