Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that their community thrives on. American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might be otherwise overlooked. Where to Find the Best Black Friday Deals in the Canton Area

Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday rule the shopping roost after Thanksgiving.

If you have a black belt in Black Friday shopping, listen up: area big-box retailers are gearing up to dazzle bargain hunters on Black Friday!  Not to be outdone, Target and Best Buy are also planning all-out holiday shopping assaults. According to an ad leaked online, Target's best deals will be for TVs, a Nook, a Nikon camera and an XBOX 360 Kinect bundle. At Best Buy, doorbusters include deals on TVs, phones and Samsung laptop bundles. Canton Weekend Spotlight: Dog Sled Fun Run, Coffee House Event

From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. today, Nov. 17, the Canton Public Library will have offer $5 per bag during a pop-up book sale. Also today, from 1-3 p.m., Blue Hills Reservation is hosting a Dog Sled Fun Run. The Yankee Siberian Husky Club and Boston Snow Dogs will present an educational exhibit on dog sledding in New England. Demonstrations will feature wheeled rigs, if the weather permits. They are in a new location with works from other Massachusetts artisans.

  Christina Hurley is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, where she majored in jewelry design. After graduation, she moved to New York and worked for a prestigious goldsmithing company where she refined her skills. Hurley now dedicates herself to designing and fabricating her own original line of silver and gold jewelry. Hurley first opened her studio on Rockland Street in Canton. She has now taken over a larger space at 554 Washington St. and is incorporating other artisans at her new store. Patch: You have recently moved into a new larger location on Washington Street. Village Toy Shop to Keep Black Friday Start Time

Unlike other establishments in the area, the local shop will not move its sale from its 7 a.m. start time the day after Thanksgiving.

While some businesses have attempted to push back their Black Friday openings this upcoming holiday, one local shop in Canton is chosing not to. The Village Toy Shop, located in Cobb Corner in Canton, will keep its 7 a.m. opening on Friday, Nov. 23. "When we started our Black Friday sale about 10 years ago, we thought we were catching early shoppers," Kathy Mabry of the Village Toy Shop said in an email to Patch. "Now it seems we will be catching shoppers as they come home from an all-night shopping spree."
