Alleged Drunk Driver Arrested After Crashes on Route 93

Christopher L. Brooks, 35, of Norwood, was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (second offense).

State Police apprehended a Norwood man after he reportedly caused several motor vehicle crashes on Route 93 North near Exit 2A in Canton. Police arrested Christopher L. Brooks, 35, of Norwood, and charged him with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (second offense). He was arrested at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree at 12:45 p.m. after police received multiple 911 calls for an erratic driver causing accidents on Route 93, according to Massachusetts State Police. State Police did not comment whether anyone was injured in the crashes. Braintree officers helped State Police in the arrest. State Police Cruiser Struck on Route 95

Driver says she sneezed and lost control of vehicle.

A State Trooper was transported to the hospital Sunday after his vehicle was hit on Route 95 North by a woman who says she sneezed and lost control of her car.  According to a report by Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police media relations unit, the accident occured at 5:20 p.m. The trooper was north of exit 11 in Canton assisting a motorist with a flat tire when a woman driving a 2003 Buick struck his cruiser from behind. The driver said she sneezed and lost control of her car. “She reported no injuries at this time,” Procopio said. “The trooper was taken to Norwood Hospital as a precaution.” Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

State Police Investigating Single Vehicle Crash in Canton

Five people were transported to area hospitals as a result of the crash.

The following information provided by the MA State Police: This morning at approximately 3:55 a.m., troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Foxboro and Framingham responded to I-95 northbound on the ramp to Route 128 northbound in Canton. Troopers responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover crash. Upon arrival, troopers encountered a 2000 Toyota Camry and a total of five victims with serious injuries. The operator, a 34-year-old man, and two of the passengers, a 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, all from Brockton, were entrapped in the vehicle.  Two additional passengers, a 23-year-old man from Bridgewater man and a 21-year-old Brockton man had been ejected from the vehicle. Three Men Charged with Conspiring to Rob a Norwood Check-Cashing Business

The Canton Police Department assisted the FBI, State Police and local police departments.

Three men were arrested and charged Wednesday in federal court with conspiring to rob a Norwood check-cashing business. John Salvucci, 65, of Medford, George Whalen, 55, of Winthrop and James Chambers, 53, of Stoneham were arrested early yesterday morning pursuant to federal arrest warrants. United States Attorney Carmen Ortiz said, “The actions alleged in the complaint involved a dangerous and violent plot to commit a robbery and kidnap a store owner. Wet Weather on the Way for Canton

Be prepared for a rainy Thursday and Friday in Canton.

Looks like some cold, rainy weather is in store for Canton. The National Weather Service said to expect a messy two days with temps in the 40s and slippery roadways for the morning commutes. Today, expect about one inch of rain and patchy fog with a high temp near 47, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, expect a low of 37. Friday brings more showers, with a high of 49 and a low of 25. Wind gusts could reach up to 43 mph, according to the NWS. The Massachusetts State Police Department is warning commuters to be cautious on the roads the next two days, especially during the early-morning commutes. Canton Fire Responded to Crash on 95

Earlier today, the Canton Fire Department along with State Police responded to a multi-car crash.

The Canton Fire Department and Massachusetts State Police responded to a multi-car crash on I-95 late this morning. The crash on 95 northbound at the Neponset Street exit in Canton involved two cars and a tour bus, according to the Massachusetts State Police. The 11:52 a.m. crash forced the highway to shut down for a short period of time while a Med Flight helicopter landed, and "administered aid to at least one injured party," according to the State Police.

State Police Trooper Injured in Canton Crash

The trooper was transported to Milton Hospital after the crash on 128.

A Massachusetts state police trooper is in the hospital following a crash late Thursday night on the Canton/Westwood line. According to State Police Spokesman David Procopio, the accident occurred on 128 south, north of I-95 on the Canton/Westwood line. The trooper's cruiser was hit during "a detail escort of a construction crane (Thursday night,)" Procopio said. "The cruiser was driving slowly in the right lane in front of a crane that was moving into position for a construction job," he said. "A second cruiser was following the crane, also at a slow speed." Lost Hikers Found Safe and Sound in the Blue Hills

A father and his two children were found after getting lost Friday night hiking in the Blue Hills.

A father and his two children who went for a hike on the Blue Hills Reservation hiking trails Friday night and lost their way were found safely by Massachusetts State Police. "They appear to be in good health," according to a statement by the Massachusetts State Police Media Office. "They were located by a canine from a local department who was assisting with the search." The dad and his kids, ages six and seven, called 911 around 9:10 p.m. Friday, stating that they were lost in the Blue Hills. The call came into the Milton State Police barracks and troopers immediately responded, setting up a command post in the area, according to State Police. Snow Makes for a Mean, Messy Commute in Canton and Milton Monday Night

Monday's flakes brought a pretty white mess to the area.

The red lights were not festive. The winter's first flakes coated the area with a picturesque scene, but created havoc for commuters heading home Monday night. In Canton and Milton, Route 138 was a nightmare for travelers. It was bumper to bumper traffic all along 138, with overflow traffic backing up onto the side rows by Brookwood Farm, until the State Police Barracks on Hillside Street. Traffic on 95 fared no better. A combination of snow and rush-hour traffic made for the major traffic jam. The area received about two inches of snow and the temperature felt like 13 degrees, although it reached 25 degrees, according to The Weather Channel. My brother in law is on 128, crawling past the Blue Hills at 2 miles an hour. I'm so sorry for everybody out on the roads....this lil storm really took the commuters by surprise. Hopefully it will not be as gruesome as the one a few years back that took many hours to get off the highway and into Canton!   more ›

Updated: State Police on Scene in Wooded Area Across from Reebok

Excavation currently taking place at location State Police canine identified this afternoon.

The Norfolk County District Attorney's Office confirmed tonight that the remains found in a wooded area in Canton are not human. "A very small number of what observations at the scene suggest are animal bones were found in that area over the course of several hours of searching," David Traub, spokesman for the District Attorney, said in a statement tonight. Canton Police Chief Kenneth Berkowitz also confirmed that the remains are not human. The bones will be taken to the Chief Medical Examiner's office in Boston for further examination, Traub said.
