Massachusetts state and local police arrested a Brooklyn, New York man in town on Friday for allegedly accepting a marijuana delivery valued at nearly $1 million, according to reports. Thomas Jin Kim, of Brooklyn, was taken into custody after taking possession of nearly 300 pounds of pot, according to a report on WCVB.com, and was subsequently charged with trafficking in marijuana. Canton police made the arrest around 2 p.m. Friday along with Massachusetts State Police, Stoughton police and members of the Drug Enforcement Agency, according to the report. Canton Board of Selectmen accepted his official resignation.
Canton Animal Control Officer Paul Bastable has resigned. He submitted his letter of resignation, effective August 19, to the Canton Board of Selectmen this week. On Tuesday night, the board officially accepted his letter of resignation. Bastable was arrested August 8 in Stoughton on drug charges. Stoughton Police arrested Bastable, who was in a town Animal Control van, allegedly buying cocaine from an alleged drug dealer, according to police reports. The Board of Selectmen had placed Bastable on a 30-day, paid, administrative leave while the town did its own internal investigation. Stoughton Police arrested the Canton Animal Control Officer after an alleged drug deal last week.
The Canton Animal Control officer arrested last week in Stoughton allegedly bought cocaine from a drug dealer while in his town Animal Control van. Paul Bastable was arrested on August 8 when police spotted a “small glassine baggie containing a white substance” in plain sight in his van, according to a Stoughton Police report written by Detective Erik Feist. The substance tested positive for cocaine, according to the police report. Bastable, 40, was found to be in possession of four grams of cocaine, valued at $400, according to police. Armando (Cedona) Arocho, who was also arrested, was found to be in possession of 14 grams of cocaine valued at $1,700 and had $175 worth of heroine, according to police.
