Viewfinder: Only in New England

The fickle weather in Canton changed by the minute.

From gray to blue, sunglasses on to windshield wipers on, the skies changed in a matter of 20 minutes while driving through Canton along 138 and down Washington Street Wednesday afternoon. The weather went from gray and cloudy, to rain and bright blue skies–at the same time. Only in New England do we experience weather like this. The National Weather Service is predicting a mixed bag of weather for Canton this weekend. On Friday, expect partly sunny skies with a high temperature of 32 degrees. There is a chance of snow and rain before 8:00 a.m. Saturday and a high of 47 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. On Sunday, there is a chance of rain with a high of temp of 54 degrees: T-shirt weather for New Englanders!

Two-Day Snow Storm Brings Cancellations

Several Canton events are cancelled due to the snow.

February's first snow storm is bringing cancellations galore. Tonight's Board of Selectmen meeting is cancelled, Temple Beth Abraham's Evening Minyan is cancelled, Temple Beth Abraham's religious education is cancelled, the library's Great Decisions Discussion is cancelled. The Canton Public Schools Kindergarten registration has been postponed until February 9, and the Canton Public Schools had an early release today.  All after-school sports and activities are also cancelled for today. This two-part storm is expected to bring up to 16 inches of snow to the Canton area, according to the National Weather Service. Updated: Bitter Cold Hits Canton

Cold snap brings temps in the single digits.

Ready to move to Florida yet? With temperatures down to -7 degrees last night, today is not looking much better for the Canton area. Today's high temperature is a whopping 10 degrees, and the windchill will make it feel like a mere -24 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Canton Fire Chief Charles Doody said residents in need of assistance with finding a warm shelter, heat assistance or other services, in addition to calling 2-1-1, can also call the Canton Area Helpline at 781-828-6666. There is a slight chance of snow showers after midnight, according to the NWS. Get the layers ready to go for today. Or better yet, book your flight to some place warm and sunny! Back Again: Snow Will Make the Morning a Messy One for Commuters

Expect up to seven additional inches of snow Friday.

It will be another messy morning for commuters tomorrow. The National Weather Service is forecasting up to four to seven inches of snow in Canton. The snow showers will start at about 4 a.m. Friday and the town will see a low temperature of 29 degrees. Patchy fog is expected before 11 a.m. The timing of this latest storm could not be worse for morning commuters, as the snow should hit in the early morning hours and wrap up by 1:00 p.m., according to the NWS.

Updated: Snow and Ice Make a Comeback in Canton Today

The weather makes for messy commuting as ice and snow arrive this morning.

It was another cold and icy day today. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for today due to the snow, rain and icy conditions. The Canton area saw freezing rain between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. today and a temperature of a chilly 36 degrees. The rain has continued all through the afternoon. With 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice expected, the National Weather Service says to expect some frozen tree limbs coming down and possible power outages around the state. The other concern is street flooding due to the snow-clogged street drains.
