The Halfway Cafe, located at in the Cobbs Corner Shopping Plaza, usually has some new great deal up its sleeve. Whether the "8 Meals for $8", Tasting Tuesdays or another 5K Road Race in June, the Halfway Cafe always comes up with something new and fun for their customers. Canton Patch sat down with Tom Cahillane, manager of the restaurant's nearby Cobbs Corner location to find out more about the restaurant and what the eatery was planning for St. Patrick's Day festivities this year. Mission Clothing, a unique and intimate boutique located in Canton, offers residents from the area contemporary women's clothing and accessories. "The goal of Mission is to give every customer who walks through the door, a personalized shopping experience," Owner Shoshanah Graupen said. Artists Carig McConnell and John Grieve carved the holiday decoration on Wednesday afternoon.
A group of ice sculptors took to Canton's Village Shoppes on Wednesday to carve a special decoration for Valentine's Day. The sculptors, Craig McConnell and John Grieve, carved a large heart out of ice in front of Especially for Pets. Together with chain saws in hand they formed the perfect heart where later on in the afternoon children and adults could come and pose for a photo with the sculpture. Gerry Pellissier, owner of Orange Leaf in Cobbs Corner along with Bonnie Policow from the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce who was the co-ordinator of the pajama drive event collected over 100 pair of pajamas to be donated to Mainspring, a homeless shelter whose head quarters are located in Brockton. This has been on going since the beginning of the month. The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce held their Christmas party back in early December and asked each person to bring in a pair of pajamas to be donated to Mainspring. From that event more than 60 pair of pajamas were donated. On Saturday, Dec. 15 and Sunday De. 16 the Village Shoppes in Cobbs Corner held a holiday stroll complete with a hay ride, holiday songs by the 'Canton Community Theatre Group', Steel Drums provided by 'The Xisles Drums', a hayride around the Cobbs Corner parking lot with Pat Mann and two large horses from the 'Whispering Wind Farm' in Chepachet, Rhode Island and Santa Claus posing for photos with the kids. The 2 day event kept the parking lot filled and the stores over flowing with shoppers. The holiday spirit was truly in the air. Here are some photos from the event. On Saturday, Dec. 15 at 11:30 a.m. The Orange Leaf, a place to get your 'froyo', located in Cobbs Corner at the Village Shoppes along with Bonnie Policow of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce will meet Lisa Frisbee of Father Bill's and Mainspring to hand over new pajamas donated by friends of Orange Leaf and members of the Chamber of Commerce. Each person who donates will recieve a free three ounce froyo. Gerry Pellissier had been looking for a charity to donate too over the holdays. He reached out to Terry Schneider of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce who thought of Father Bill's and Main Spring who own the Evelyn House, a homeless shelter in Stoughton that cater's mainly to single parent families. On Saturday, Dec 8, Especially For Pets in Cobbs Corner at the Village Shoppes held a photo fund raiser for 'Vested Interest in K-9's', an all volunteer organization headed up by President Sandy Marcal, to raise money for the vests worn by our police dogs. The vests cost over $1,000. per vest and protect the dogs from bullets and stab wounds. Through the generosity of private and corporate sponsors along with dedicated volunteers, 'Vested Interest in K-9's' vested 64 dogs in 2011. Here is a photo gallery of the event.

The Village Shoppes in Canton, hosted a wonderful family Halloween treat, a feature film, "Hocus Pocus" right out on the lawn next to Starbucks. Funflicks Out Door Movies of North Attleboro set up the huge screen where families layed out their blankets and enjoyed the complimentary treats of popcorn and apple cider. This event was the start of a weekend long Halloween Celebration which will include trick or treating on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 12-3 p.m. and of course the best haunted house in Massachusetts, 'The Hidden Hotel' which was open for business all weekend from 6-10 p.m. Here is a photo gallery of 'Hocus Pocus' movie night.
