Seniors enjoyed a pizza party and a visit from St. John's students in honor of Valentine's Day.

The Council on Aging hosted a Valentine's Day pizza party this Tuesday for seniors to socialize and celebrate the holiday with friends. The highlight of the day was a visit from first graders from St. John's who shared Valentine cards with the seniors.

Third generation in a beloved and historical area landmark, Judy Hilliard McCarthy feels fortunate to be part of the Hilliard’s heritage, and to be able to pass it on to her children. Hilliards House of Candy's own unique family recipes are a tradition here in Cobb's Corner. They are a name Canton knows and a place where families keep coming. Originally founded in 1924, the family opened an Easton shop 50 years ago and in 2003, that busy location maxed out. “It got so busy, especially during the holidays;” they knew they had to do something.  It’s about that time, parents–Valentine’s Day is almost upon us.  Ah, yes the wondrous day is filled with candy hearts, chocolate, roses and Hallmark greeting cards filled with sweet sentiments.    Maybe you will make dinner reservations at a nice restaurant with your significant other or maybe you will be tearing your hair out when your child shares with you at the last moment that you need to buy a couple dozen cheesy Valentine cards for him or her to pass out at school the very next day.  At our house, we try to do a couple low-key homemade things to celebrate in our own way and not spend a lot of money.
