Survey: First Dates On the Rise for Valentine's Day

Would you go on a first date on Valentine's Day? If so, would you pay for the date?

Needless to say, Valentine's Day is a popular holiday for couples everywhere. The day offers a chance for couples to take a breather from the daily grind and head out for a romantic evening, or, alternatively, enjoy a romantic evening at home. But what about those who aren't in a committed relationship? As it turns out, a recent singles study indicates that first dates on or around Feb. 14 are actually on the rise.  In fact, more than 2,400 Boston men are going as far as paying women for a first date on Valentine's Day, according to the study, conducted by dating-auction website WhatsYourPrice.com. I went on a first date this valentines day. It went surprisingly well and I didn't feel much pressure once we started talking. We went to a sports bar. I picked The place. We ended up being the last ones to leave! We had great conversation and he brought me flowers and paid for dinner. Needless to say we are seeing eachother again sometime this week. :)   more ›

Ice Sculptors Carve Valentine's Day Heart in Canton

Artists Carig McConnell and John Grieve carved the holiday decoration on Wednesday afternoon.

A group of ice sculptors took to Canton's Village Shoppes on Wednesday to carve a special decoration for Valentine's Day. The sculptors, Craig McConnell and John Grieve, carved a large heart out of ice in front of Especially for Pets. Together with chain saws in hand they formed the perfect heart where later on in the afternoon children and adults could come and pose for a photo with the sculpture. Pre-Valentine's Day Snow Coming to Canton

The National Weather Service is predicting snow for Saturday.

If you love snow, you are in luck. The National Weather Service is forecasting three to five inches of snow to hit the area on Saturday. With a high temperature of 33 degrees in Canton, the Saturday snowfall will end before 5:00 p.m. and dump an estimated three to five inches, according to the National Weather Service. Although Saturday night will dip to a chilly 14 degrees, with wind chills as low as zero, it looks like the snow will let up in time for folks to take their sweeties out for a pre-Valentine's Day night out. Bundle up, folks!
