Local businesses salute our service men and women with special deals year-round as well as on Veterans Day.

A number of local businesses are saluting veterans, military service men and women, and their families this Veterans Day by offering local discounts, specials and promotions. Remember, the whole point of Veterans Day to thank and remember our troops and November is Military Family Month. Canton Honors Veterans with American Legion Breakfast

Veterans, families and supporters attended today's Veterans Day Breakfast.

Canton came together on Veterans Day to honor those who serve and have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. At the American Legion Post's Veterans Day Breakfast, over 100 folks came out to support the vets and enjoy some pancakes, bacon and eggs. The annual breakfast, held at Canton's American Legion Post #24, is put on by the Veterans Department and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Veterans of all ages, family members and supporters attended today's event, which raised money for the town's Veterans Fund.  "It's a small way, but a way to honor the veterans," June Teague, the Ladies Auxiliary secretary and treasurer, said. I hope this is the correct website and it must be. As a veteran I feel that the respect given to my father's memory is outstanding. The man had the well known problem of expenses to incur and was told to go to the VA to assist with the expenses. This was something that he refused. 1. Today is Veterans Day. There is no school today for Canton Public Schools. 2. Honor the Veterans in your life today. Add a photo, submit a story or say thank you on Canton Patch's online tribute. 3. State, county and municipal offices, including Town Hall, are closed today for the federal holiday. 4. Attend the American Legion Post's Veterans Day Breakfast from 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. today. Tickets are $6. 5. Cheer on the Bulldogs today! The girls soccer team is playing Medfield in the South Sectional Semi-Final at 12:00 p.m. at Bridgewater-Raynham High School. Veterans Visit The Students at St. John's School

Students hear presentations from local veterans in honor of Veterans Day.

Students at St. John the Evangelist School in Canton listened to a moving presentation by local veterans to commemorate and learn about Veterans Day. On November 10, in the school's parish center, students gathered to hear the local vets tell their stories. "It was a beautiful experience and a beautiful day and really gets kids in touch with what Veterans Day is all about," Fifth Grade Teacher Darlene McKay said. "It's not just a day off from school. It's a day to honor the veterans." The whole school turned out for the presentation from the local vets, which including a demonstration on how to fold an American flag. This replicated how a service member would present the flag to the family of a deceased veteran at a funeral. For the …

Canton Honors Veterans Day With American Legion Breakfast

The town came together to honor the men and women who served with a Veterans Day Breakfast.

Wearing flag ties, shirts and full uniforms, local veterans, families and residents came out Thursday morning to honor the men and women who served this country with a Veterans Day Breakfast. Held for the first time at the American Legion Post 24, about 250 folks commemorated this Veterans Day over breakfast at the Canton post. Post Manager Barry Schneider said the breakfast had been held in years past at Canton High School and was put on by the Veterans Association. This was the first year the American Legion Post 24 sponsored the breakfast. Attendees received a plateful of home-cooked bacon, eggs, toast, and O.J., for their $5 fee. With 250 attendees throughout the morning, the post was a loud and proud place to be this Veterans Day. …
