Bert and John Jacobs who founded Life is good in 1989 started outselling tee shirts from the back of a truck in downtown Boston. The company has expanded its products from tee shirts, caps to a full line of apparal for men, women and children as well as many accessory categories. From the back of a truck to 4,500 retail stores in all 50 states as well as 30 companies worldwide. Bert Jacobs, one half of the Life is Good founders said, "Our first festival was in a pumpkin patch. Then we did Fenway Park and now we've returned for our second year at Prowse Farm in Canton." Life is Good started in the back of a truck with Bert and his brother John Jacobs, selling tee shirts on the streets of Boston in 1989. The guys would gather friends around to toss ideas and get opinions on their creative work. One drawing of the character now known as Jake received the most attention. Jake was born and he was smiling because 'Life was good'. The company has expanded and so has the Life is good Festival. "The first festival in 2003 was a Pumpkin Festival," Bert Jacobs said. "Then it was in Fenway Park. Music has always been apart of the festival, it's sustainable. We've now grown from having two or three bands to having 20 or more. This weeks top stories: The US Senate live debate between Elizabeth Warren and Scott Brown on Thursday night brought in many comments. Stark differences came out early and often between the two U.S. Senate candidates in their first debate, with disagreements on everything from tax policy, to job creation to women's rights. Over and over during the Thursday debate on WBZ-TV, Warren chose to bring up Sen. Brown's voting record, and Brown chose to point out that Warren's plan would raise taxes on everyone and stifle job creation. Life is good Festival at Prowse Farm was a huge success. A Summer Oldies Festival to benefit Prowse Farm Educational Center.
On Saturday, July 7, 2012, Prowse Farm hosted a summer oldies festival, produced by Harvey Robbins, to benefit the Historic Prowse Farm Educational Center. Prowse Farm includes 44 acres of open space that rest at the foot of Great Blue Hill, after which Massachusetts derived its name. The Native Americans called the area, “Moswatusek” or land by the great hill. The oldies festival musical line up included Tony Funches, former lead singer of Herb Reed's The Platters for over ten years with hits, "Only You," "My Prayer" and "Twilight Time." Dana Z's tribute to Elvis Presley, Suzie Hatton with her rendition of Pat Benatar and James Brown Jr. saluting the godfather of soul, Mr. James Brown. Native Americans from all over North American came to Prowse Farm in Canton to celebrate their culture.
The Order for the Preservation of Indian Culture (T.O.P.I.C.) held it's 36th Annual Pow Wow at the Prowse Farm, 5 Blue Hill River Road in Canton on June 23 and 24, 2012. The public was invited to join in the celebration of Native American culture with many native peoples from around the continent. The festivities included traditional dancing and drumming along with storytelling. Vendors in tents lined the Prowse Farm grounds with a wide variety of handmade items and supplies and delicious food. This tradition has gone on for hundreds of years all across our beautiful and diverse country. Visit the Prowse Farm website for more upcoming events.

The Life is good Festival entertained the crowds at Prowse Farm in Canton and raised money for charity.
The Life is good Festival, held for the second year at Canton’s Prowse Farm at the scenic foot of the Blue Hill Mountain, was off to an excellent start on Saturday. A well-attended crowd that swelled as the day progressed and the rain withheld was rewarded with an action-packed festival that offered a wide variety of music, games, crafts and food. The annual event is a charity held by the Life is good Company, which is head-quartered in Boston and New Hampshire. All of the proceeds from the event are donated to the Life is good Playmakers, a non-profit group of experts who teach health-care and education professionals how to use therapeutic play to enhance the quality of life of children who have undergone or are undergoing traumatic …

For the second year in a row, life is good in Canton. Today and tomorrow, the Life is good Festival is bringing musical acts, games and fun to Prowse Farm. The music laden two-day fest, which drew 25,000 concertgoers last year, is raising money for children’s charity. “We are thrilled to be back,” said James Macdonald, director of good vibes at Life is good, a Boston-based company. “We can’t say enough about Canton,” Macdonald, a Watertown resident, said in an interview this week with Patch. “No city or town has been as cooperative and understanding as to what our mission is as Canton.” Last year, the festival raised $725,000 and “this year’s fundraising goal is $1 million,” the Braintree native said.
