CANTON Canton Officials Release Impact Report for Plymouth Rubber Housing Proposal Canton officials released a recent report that discusses a proposal of what to do with the former Plymouth Rubber property, which involves the development of 348 housing units: 64 own houses, 80 age-restricted for residents aged 55 and older and 204 apartments. The proposal is estimated to generate 150 short-term and 178 long-term jobs and result in an estimated $10 million spent on goods and services from businesses in Canton, according to the report's findings. Canton Police Arrest Stoughton Man for Alleged Armed Robbery Canton Police arrested a Stoughton man Friday morning after he allegedly robbed Austin's Mobil gas station on Washington Street. Carlos Omar Santiago, 35, of Stoughton was arrested without incident shortly after midnight Friday. Santiago was arraigned at Stoughton District Court Friday morning on charges of assault to rob, armed assault and battery and attempt to commit a crime. Santiago allegedly had a gun and demanded the clerk at the gas station to "give him the money," according to Canton Police. Four Arrested After Brawl Breaks Out at Stoughton Baby Shower A baby shower at Club Luis de Camoes on Porter Street in Stoughton the evening of Saturday, Jan. 12 turned into a full-fledged brawl that took 20 police officers nearly an hour to quell. Four from Brockton ended up getting arrested, including one juvenile. Nearly 200 people, including children, were at the baby shower, which started at 9 p.m. A fight, which quickly escalated, broke out a little after 11:30 p.m. Stoughton Police responded, but needed assistance from three other local police departments as well as the State Police and Norfolk County Sheriff's Office to quell the brawl.
