Replybookstorebookstorebookstorebookstorebookstore.
This is one biz that would be a low height profile, and who doesn't like a bookstore? Keep it simple. Don't need big names. Newbury Comics-like or smaller. How about books AND records/cds and coffee. WiFi. Make pkg lot traffic use the existing Benny's.
But yes. Batting cages.
The key, as is usually the case, though is to have the plan. No one feels good about voting for something that can change in the blink of an eye or when it goes up for sale in the future. This is my issue with the mess on 140/106. It was cleared and looks like crap, and it hasn't even been sold yet. The lorax were off duty that day i guess. Someone needs to put up a styrofoam gravestone on that corner with "Unless" carved into it. -

Also, bowling alley and things like that were things I'd mentioned previously for the chocolate factory and elsewhere.
I don't see how abutting folks would go for something with all the lights and noises from an amusement type center, but it's definitely something that would be great for the town.
So then, what can go there? Biz, but with a lower-buffer height profile? -

I have always been a fan of a center with "stuff to do". But not video game machines. i would adore batting cages, myself. i've suggested often that in out-of-the way spots in town (not at this location) things like shuffleboard. Nothing fancy! Almost maintenance-free! Keep the sticks in a store next to wherever it goes or on the wall outside. Not like it will make any money though. I have also in the past suggested a small movie theater- doesn't have to do first-runs. A two-screen theater. This town has empty lots and empty biz, almost too many resteraunts, one too many mattress stores, too many japanese places, but nothing to do, really.

like i said, it'd be expensive. it'd be nice though. i wasn't leading the pack to town hall with sandwich boards! In any case, no one says it has to be town-run.

nope, i'd be happy with a vacant lot, but not looking scrubby like that. at least grass it up or something.

He// yes!! Indoors, even, like the Holiday Inn has. Expensive, no doubt. This is a terrific idea. There's a couple of other things though that have to be taken care of with public funds first though, like the DPW facilities on 106. If the pool were to be indoors it wouldn't be sitting empty all winter, and could house other activities.

I and others have made similar suggestions, but you worded it pretty nicely. Thing is, as much as this forum/question at the Patch goes, I'm not sure that the replies are read by anyone other than the bunch of us who reply.
