You made my point Gretchen. You said it yourself. Call the mayor! As for understanding government and municipality operations I think many of us here understand it quite well. As for my comment about the world being out of balance. Before you jump on me mayber you should take some time away from the Patch and review some world news. And I currently live in seekonk but grew up in Attleboro and have immediate family that still lives there so this does affect me.

Well everyone. Stand up and be heard. Write the leaders on the town, state and federal levels. I agree with Deb. Too much control by the state. People need to think for themselves and have less dependence on the government for everything. I went to Catholic shcools for eight years. We had no food service for six out of those eight years. We bagged it. How the hell did we survive. Oh yeah. We even ate peanutbutter. Sometimes we would even use a butter knife to cut some fruit. Sorry, but this world is out of balance. i hope we can bring it back soon.

Deb you are correct. If there are threats involve the police and release the info, unless the info puts someone in harms way. I don't see why the school should spend money on an investigation. Let the police do it if needed. the media coverage on this issue is horrible. NECN has headlines of death threats. Really? I just want to know the truth.

I suspect this administrator is blowing this out of proportion. If not release the nature of the threats and the source. And for the record shame on them for denying any child lunch over what appeared to be miscommunication between the parents and the school.

There is an answer. Parents need to take more responsibility for their children and their actions. Too many rely on the system to do the right thing. That forces the system into a blanket approach. To many children spend most of their time home watching cable, playing video games (violent ones at that), texting friends hours on end. I am sorry. but an 8 year old does not need an Iphone. Come on people! I am not saying this is every family. But I am exposed to enough to guess it is more than a majority. It's interesting as we add more rules we seem to have more problems. Just forty years ago there were no such conversations. It appears our dependence on technology may be causing a digression in common sense. So I say point the fingers at the parents. Let you all become more active in the process! This is a conversation I am yet to see happen and deserves further review by everyone!

Adam, since you have such a myopic view of the issue I must vent. The real issue here is the lack of common sense on the part of the school administrators. But since you at least brought to light that even a butter knife can be dangerous I will give some latitude to you. But, in your line of thinking you have to consider the dangers of sharp pencils. Pens can be used as a weapon. What if a child decides to bite another. It has been known to happen. Then we will have to either remove teeth or put muzzles on problem students. Adam...get a clue! You have no concept at all about the things that comprise violnce. I suspect you have never been involved in a bad situation in violence. You are like getting acvice on dental work from a proctologist. Until you get an understanding of how violence occurs please be silent. Until then my tolerance for you Adam is Zero!

J...what the hell are you talking about about. Extreme views are welcome ,but please be literate. We all make typos here as we may be sending from phones and such devices. Are you trying to say liberals will cause our extinction? I personally want less emphasis on political bias on this forum and more problem solving. Yes Gretchen, I listen...

Hey, I don't like Heroux. I am polarized on almost every issue with him. But I think his statement was valid. Point is, this is an example of how a school system should not react! According to the story this was a good student. She's a kid. I am sure when she packed that butter knife in her pack she never thought she was violating the rules. Damn. Common sense should prevailed here. And Gretchen stop with the labels. To wit: Right wing..elite....etc. You said stay on topic so please do!
